Wild Instinct. Quiet Courage. Finnish Nature.

The wolf knows the sounds and silences of the wilderness.

It moves through a world where not every path is visible and not every danger can be recognised in advance.

Its strength lies not only in courage, but also in its extraordinary awareness of the world around it.

This is the spirit of SUSI™ – the Finnish wolf.

At KIUASSUOLA™, we believe that even an everyday sauna object can carry something meaningful.

Our Spirit Animal Sauna Thermometers bring together practical Finnish sauna design, northern wildlife and stories inspired by Finnish folklore.

Each animal has its own character, symbolism and story.

SUSI™ represents courage, instinct, awareness and the inner strength to move forward even when the path ahead is uncertain.

The Wild Spirit of the Northern Forest

The wolf has always inspired a mixture of respect, curiosity and mystery.

It belongs to the wilderness, moving through forests and open landscapes with an awareness shaped by its surroundings.

Its survival depends on sharp senses, careful observation and the ability to respond when circumstances change.

For us, SUSI™ represents the courage to trust what we sense, even when we cannot yet see the whole picture.

Life does not always offer a clear path.

Sometimes we must make decisions without knowing exactly where they will lead.

The spirit of SUSI™ reminds us that courage is not the absence of uncertainty.

It is the willingness to continue despite it.

You do not need to see the entire path to take the next step.

A Guide Between the Seen and Unseen

In old Finnish folk beliefs and stories surrounding the wilderness, the wolf could appear as something more than an ordinary animal.

It was sometimes imagined as a warning presence or a guide at the edge of the unknown.

Its sharp senses and mysterious movements gave rise to stories in which the wolf could recognise dangers or changes that people had not yet noticed.

Some mythical interpretations even imagined a wordless connection between humans and wolves – an instinctive understanding beyond ordinary speech.

These ideas belong to the symbolic and spiritual world of folklore, where animals were often given meanings that reflected humanity's relationship with nature.

In this world of stories, the wolf could represent a traveller between what was visible and what remained hidden.

A creature of wilderness, intuition and unexplained knowledge.

We wanted SUSI™ to carry a little of that ancient mystery into the modern Finnish sauna.

Not every part of nature can be fully understood or explained.

And perhaps it does not always need to be.

The wilderness reminds us to respect what we cannot control.

What Does SUSI™ Represent?

A person who shares the spirit of the wolf would be courageous, intuitive and quietly determined.

Someone who listens to their inner voice, even when others do not understand the direction they have chosen.

They may be reserved and thoughtful, but their quiet nature should never be mistaken for a lack of courage.

They recognise that not every decision can be made with complete certainty.

Sometimes instinct, experience and inner wisdom must guide the way.

They respect the mysteries of nature and understand that strength can also be found in sensitivity and awareness.

They know when to wait.

And when the moment comes, they know when to move forward.

Quiet but courageous. Thoughtful but fearless when it matters.

SUSI™ symbolises the wisdom to trust your instincts while accepting that some things in life will remain unknown.

Finnish Birch. Finnish Craftsmanship.

SUSI™ is manufactured in Finland from Finnish birch plywood and finished by hand.

Birch is one of the most recognisable trees of the Finnish landscape. Its natural character and understated appearance make it a fitting material for an object inspired by the northern wilderness.

We wanted the thermometer to belong naturally in a Finnish sauna.

Not as unnecessary decoration, but as a practical object with a distinctive identity.

The natural wood, carefully finished details and recognisable wolf silhouette bring together Finnish craftsmanship and the inspiration of northern nature.

The thermometer features a sauna-suitable surface finish and a ready-to-hang fixing on the reverse.

SUSI™ carries the Finnish Key Flag (Avainlippu) – a certification of Finnish work and origin.

Finnish birch. Made in Finland. Inspired by the wilderness.

More Than a Sauna Thermometer

A sauna thermometer has a simple but important purpose.

It helps you find the temperature that feels right for your sauna experience.

SUSI™ combines this everyday function with the symbolism of the wolf – its instinct, mysterious character and connection to the wilderness.

The distinctive silhouette makes it a natural addition to a home sauna, lakeside cabin or thoughtfully designed wellness environment.

For us, this reflects the wider KIUASSUOLA™ philosophy.

We believe that practical products can also carry meaning, reflect personal values and become part of the stories surrounding everyday life.

A practical object. A story from the wilderness. A meaning of its own.

A Gift for Someone Who Trusts Their Instincts

Some people have the courage to follow a direction that others cannot yet understand.

They trust their own judgment, recognise when something feels right and find the strength to continue even when the future is uncertain.

SUSI™ is a meaningful gift for someone whose courage and intuition you admire.

For a person beginning an unfamiliar journey, facing an important decision or learning to trust their own inner voice.

It is also a natural choice for people who appreciate wildlife, Finnish folklore, design and the mysteries of northern nature.

Each thermometer comes in gift-ready packaging together with the wolf's own story and symbolic meaning.

The gift carries more than a practical purpose.

It carries a message.

Trust your instincts. Have the courage to move forward. Not every path needs to be visible from the beginning.
