We created these sauna hats with a simple belief: a functional sauna product can protect you from the heat and still have a recognisable identity of its own.

Their tall, sculptural silhouette is unmistakable. Yet behind the strong design lies something very simple – 100% Finnish sheep wool, felted entirely by hand in Finland.

No added dyes. No unnecessary coatings. No attempt to disguise the natural material.

Why Wear a Wool Sauna Hat?

In Finland, sauna is part of everyday life. But even here, not everyone wears a sauna hat.

For those who do, the reason is often very practical.

Felted wool naturally traps air between its fibres, forming an insulating layer around the head.

This helps slow the transfer of intense heat towards the scalp, ears and hair, making hotter sauna sessions more comfortable.

A well-made wool sauna hat can:

Help protect the head and ears from intense sauna heat.
Help protect hair from direct heat exposure.
Make hotter löyly sessions feel more comfortable.
Provide natural insulation in both hot and cold environments.

The Original High Silhouette

NOKI™ & SAVU™ are the original high models of the KIUASSUOLA™ Sauna Hat Collection.

Their distinctive silhouette is intentionally bold.

The shape is tall, generous and sculptural. It can lean gently to one side, move with the wearer and develop its own individual expression.

We wanted to create something that would be recognised by its form rather than decoration.

Something that could be both practical and personal.

The design is gender-neutral. It does not tell the wearer who to be or how to look.

Instead, it leaves room for individual character.

The hat has an identity. So does the person wearing it.

Finnish Wool, Just as Nature Made It

The starting point for NOKI™ & SAVU™ is genuine Finnish sheep wool.

We use the wool in its own natural colours.

NOKI™ – Natural Black

Deep, dark and expressive. Its strong appearance comes directly from the natural colour of the wool, not from added dye.

SAVU™ – Natural Grey

Soft, understated natural grey. A quieter shade, with the same recognisable high silhouette.

Neither colour is created artificially.

The hats contain no added dyes, artificial colourants, finishing agents or protective coatings.

Natural wool is not perfectly uniform, and we do not believe it needs to be.

Small variations in colour, surface and texture are part of the material's character.

Genuine wool may also retain some of its natural lanolin and a subtle wool scent, especially when warm or slightly damp.

For us, these are simply reminders of the material's origin.

Finnish wool is allowed to feel like Finnish wool.

Felted Entirely by Hand in Finland

Every NOKI™ and SAVU™ sauna hat is made entirely by hand in Finland.

The wool is felted into its distinctive form, creating a dense, insulating structure without conventional seams.

Hand-felting is a process that requires time, skill and an understanding of the material.

No two hats need to be perfectly identical.

Slight differences in shape, texture and surface reflect both the natural wool and the hands that made the product.

This is not a question of industrial uniformity.

It is a question of genuine craftsmanship.

Our sauna hats carry the Finnish Key Flag (Avainlippu) – a certification of Finnish work and origin.

From Sauna Heat to the Northern Cold

The Finnish sauna experience does not always end at the sauna door.

Sometimes it continues into the fresh outdoor air, a steaming hot tub or an icy lake.

NOKI™ & SAVU™ were designed with these contrasts in mind.

Caring for Your Finnish Wool Sauna Hat

Natural wool requires surprisingly little washing.

The most important care is often the simplest.

Air After Use

After each sauna session, allow the hat to air and dry naturally in a well-ventilated place.

Avoid unnecessary washing to help preserve the felted structure and natural character of the wool.

A Finnish Winter Tradition – Snow Cleaning

During winter, clean, dry powder snow can also be used to refresh wool.

First allow the hat to cool to the outdoor temperature.

Gently press and roll it in clean, dry snow, without rubbing or twisting the wool.

Shake away the snow, reshape the hat if necessary and let it dry naturally.

Hand Wash Only When Needed

If washing is necessary, use lukewarm water and a small amount of mild wool detergent.

Wash gently by hand. Do not rub, stretch or wring the felted wool.

Rinse with water of a similar temperature, carefully press out excess moisture and reshape the hat while damp.

Allow it to dry naturally in a well-ventilated place.

Do not machine wash, tumble dry or place directly on a heat source.

With appropriate care, your wool sauna hat can continue to develop its own individual appearance through use.
