Not another sauna accessory. A Finnish sauna ritual.

Scan Magazine

Finnish brand KIUASSUOLA™ is bringing a new ritual to one of Finland’s oldest traditions – not by reinventing the sauna, but by returning to what has always belonged there: heat, natural materials, atmosphere and time.

KIUASSUOLA™ has also been featured by Scan Magazine, which explored the brand’s approach to traditional Finnish sauna culture, ILMARI KUURA™, Finnish soapstone and the idea of creating new rituals without making the sauna experience more complicated.

This is the wider story behind that same philosophy.

The Finnish sauna has never needed much.

There is heat. Water. Stone. Silence. Time.

In a world where wellbeing is increasingly measured, optimised and filled with new stimuli, the Finnish sauna offers something almost radical in its simplicity: permission to be present.

Not performance, but presence.
Not more stimulation, but atmosphere.
Not another accessory, but ritual.

This idea sits at the heart of KIUASSUOLA™, a Finnish sauna brand built around rituals, natural materials and sensory experiences.

Its signature product, ILMARI KUURA™, gives that philosophy a physical form.

A Finnish sauna ritual shaped in Finland

ILMARI KUURA™ combines Finnish soapstone with KIUASSUOLA™ Sauna Ritual Salt to create a slow, atmospheric element for the sauna.

Placed on the sauna heater before heating, the soapstone warms gradually together with the sauna. Heat and humidity become part of the experience as the salt responds to the changing conditions around it.

There is no complicated procedure and nothing to perform.

Customers describe the löyly as light and gentle. They often say it feels easy to stay in the sauna a little longer, that the skin feels soft afterwards and that breathing feels pleasant.

For KIUASSUOLA™, these experiences matter. The ritual is not about making sauna more intense, but about changing how the moment feels.

The ritual becomes part of something already familiar: heating the sauna, throwing water on the stones and allowing the room to change around you.

Finnish soapstone as part of the ritual

The natural stone itself is never exactly identical.

Its surface, pattern and tone carry the variations of the material from which it is made. For KIUASSUOLA™, that individuality is not something to hide. It is part of the product.

ILMARI KUURA™ is made in Finland using Finnish soapstone in cooperation with Tulikivi, one of Finland’s best-known specialists in soapstone. Scan Magazine also highlighted this collaboration in its editorial feature on KIUASSUOLA™.

The collaboration connects contemporary sauna design with a material deeply rooted in Finnish heat culture.

For KIUASSUOLA™, Finnish origin is more than a country-of-manufacture label. It is part of the product’s identity.

ILMARI KUURA™ is made in Finland, uses Finnish soapstone and draws directly from a sauna culture in which heat, stone and ritual have been part of everyday life for generations.

Made in Finland. Rooted in Finnish sauna culture. Created for saunas around the world.

But the purpose is not to make the sauna more technical.

It is to make the moment more tangible.

Finnish sauna culture for a new international audience

International interest in sauna continues to grow.

At the same time, sauna is increasingly discussed through performance, optimisation and measurable wellbeing.

The Finnish relationship with sauna is often quieter.

Sauna can be social or solitary.

It can mark the beginning of a celebration or the end of an ordinary working day.

It can be part of a summer cottage, a city apartment, a hotel or a family home.

What connects these experiences is not performance.

It is repetition, familiarity and atmosphere.

KIUASSUOLA™ was created from the idea that new products can enter this world without overwhelming it.

A product should not demand attention from the sauna.

It should belong there.

That principle also shapes the wider KIUASSUOLA™ collection: authentic Finnish sauna culture interpreted through natural materials, distinctive design and small rituals that can become part of a person’s own way of using the sauna.

From one Finnish sauna innovation to a wider ritual collection

For KIUASSUOLA™, ILMARI KUURA™ represents more than one product.

It represents the direction of the entire brand.

The ambition is to build an internationally recognised Finnish sauna lifestyle brand around experiences that feel authentic rather than manufactured: products with a clear purpose, strong identity and a natural connection to the sauna environment.

The aim is not to build an endless product catalogue, but a carefully considered collection of Finnish sauna rituals and objects with a clear purpose, identity and connection to sauna culture.

As the brand grows internationally, KIUASSUOLA™ values its international partners as local interpreters of Finnish sauna culture, helping Finnish sauna rituals find a natural place within their own cultures.

The collection may grow, but the philosophy remains intentionally simple.

Less noise. More atmosphere.
Less performance. More presence.
Less product. More ritual.

Because perhaps the most valuable thing Finnish sauna culture can offer the modern wellness world is not another way to improve ourselves.

It is a place where, for a moment, we do not have to.
